DiversitARTe
is a photography project
that addresses an important issue in Moldova – the discrimination of minority groups. Despite the fact that this is one of the most relevant problems that has to be solved as top priority in any society, it has always been avoided in our country due to lack of information and existing stereotypes in people’s minds. In this regard, the project’s major aim is to increase the awareness of the Moldovan society about the minority groups and improve the attitude towards those who, at some point, share different beliefs or have a diverse look.
The purpose of the project is to portray non-discrimination subject through two categories:
a) people;
b) objects;
The project consists of two stages:
a) Contest – during which everybody can send us pictures that respect the project’s conditions and rules at diversitarte@gmail.com by February 1, 2012;
b) Exhibition - 27 pictures, that will be selected by a committee of indipendent experts, will be exposed at an exhibition in an art center of Chisinau city, Moldova. During the exhibition, all attendees will be able to vote for the best picture, that will be awarded accordingly.
Awardes for the best picture :
a) Publication of the winning picture in an international brochure created by Open Society Foundation, New York;
b) Article about the winning picture and photographer in a local magazine;
c) Other prizes will be announced very soon!
Both professional and amateaur photographers can apply for the contest under the following
CONDITIONS:
- Minimum size of pictures: 3456 x 2304 pixels;
- Extension:. Jpg or. Tif;
- Participants may submit a maximum of 4 images;
- Deadline until you can send photos (with a description of no more than 200 words) in digital format at diversitarte@gmail.com is February 1, 2012.
- Participants acknowledge their full ownership (copyrights) of the image(s) they submit;
- Participants retain full ownership (copyrights) of their images throughout the contest, and agree to the public exhibition of their images as specified or deemed appropriate by DiversitARTe;
- If there is any person(s) recognizably portrayed in your image(s), a Model Release Contract must be submitted for every person in the image granting explicit permission for the dissemination of that image. Minors must have the the permission of their guardian(s)
- Compliance with all of the above mentioned criteria;
- Originality and artistism;
- Implied symbolism;
- Photographic composition;
- Photoshop usage in aesthetic limits;
- Respect of the application’s deadline;
- Photographs who do not respect the project’s topic (diversity and non-discrimination) or do not respect ethical standards will not be taken into account.
